    Purplish leaves and globes with mild turnip-cabbage flavour. Leaves are eaten like kale and white-fleshed bulbs are eaten like broccoli. Plants grow to 45 cm tall, with globes growing above the soil. Direct sow in early spring for a summer harvest, and again in August to harvest in the cool weather of the fall and winter. Harvest bulbs when 6 cm. Peel and remove all tough and woody parts before slicing and cooking. Certified Organic Product. Frost tolerant.

    Superschmeltz reaches mammoth proportions all the while remaining tender and buttery in texture. This spectacular light green kohlrabi makes the largest bulb of any variety, up to 25 cm across, and weighing up to 4.5 kgs! The flesh is crisp and never gets fibrous. This German heirloom is of champion size and hails specifically from the town of Schmelz in Saarland. Provide very rich soil and plant at least 60 cm apart to achieve gigantic proportions.

    A late variety with blue stems which is highly resistant to lignification and stem splitting. It has an outstanding, delicate flavor. It is intended for autumn harvest. The stems can reach 500g - 700g (17 - 26oz.). The growing time from sowing to harvest is 110 - 125 days.

    This rapidly growing member of the cabbage family produces a greenish-white enlarged stem with short tops and few leaves. Slow to bolt and early producing, White Vienna is best harvested when the stem reaches 5-7.5 cm in diameter. Keep soil moist during dry weather.  The flesh is white with a nutty flavour when eaten raw and has a mild cabbage taste when cooked. Sow seed every two weeks from April through to early August.  White Vienna is heirloom prior to 1860's.
