This is a stunning and very interesting dark red carrot! The red colour comes from lycopene, the same substance found in tomatoes, well known as an anti-oxidant and reputed to have cancer-preventing properties. Lovely sweet, strong flavour, great eaten raw, but perhaps best served lightly cooked as the colour intensifies and the lycopene becomes more readily assimilated. Wonderful for adding colour to all your cooking and now firmly established as one of our favourites. -

Hybrid-The very straight, tapered roots of Deep Purple carrot grow 17-20cm long. These carrots are named for the fact that the purple characteristic runs right to the core, and they keep their colour when lightly cooked. The tops are strong for easy harvests, and the storage potential is great. This is a fine fall harvest carrot that is good for juicing and it looks amazing in salads. The sweet, smooth-skinned roots were a staff favourite from our field trials. This is a high yielding, very uniform variety which is perfect for any gardener. -

Originally developed in Asia in the 1950s, Kuroda is widely adaptable, suitable for growth almost everywhere. A refined Chantenay strain, this stubby, thick-shouldered favorite yields smooth, uniform tapered roots best harvested 12-15 cm long and 5 cm in diameter. Thriving in even the poorest of soils, this light to deep orange Asian Carrot is ideal for summer sowing with prolonged harvest through autumn (and winter in more temperate zones). It’s an awesome juicer. -

Early (85-97 days) open-pollinated variety. Elongate conical, spiky, yellow carrots, 19-23 cm long, weight 130-180 grams. Sweet, juicy pulp, almost without a core and a strong aroma and honey flavor. Resistant to adverse growing conditions, cracking, and all major carrot diseases. -
