Red Oxheart is an heirloom tomato that first appeared in the 1920s. It is prized for its attractive heart shape, sweet, rich flavour, and meaty texture. The large fruits have really substantial flesh and small seed cavities so they are perfect for sauces. They can weigh over a pound each, and each plant produces many fruits. The tomato flavour is pronounced and sweet, with a slight acidity for balance. Grow this indeterminate vine in full sun in rich soil, and keep the soil evenly moist throughout the season to produce the best fruits.
