    The perfect tomato plant for Calgary! This early maturing plant produces high yields of 280-450 gram deep red tomatoes which are 10-15 cm in diameter. They are sweet and flavorful. Perfect for salads, sandwiches, and canning. Plants will yield well even in cool weather. Cold tolerant. It is parthenocarpic, meaning it can set tomatoes without pollination. An excellent choice for home gardens. A variety developed in 1994 by Dr. James Baggett of Oregon State University, Oregon, USA. Disease Resistant: V, F. Determinate. Grown Organically.   • Stunning, brightly-colored spikes create a strong feature in the early summer garden. Its pea-like flowers grow in dense spires. Scatter through cottage or wildflower gardens or mass plant in the border. Purple, deep blue, red, pink, yellow, cream, and white. Lupins prefer a full sun position but will also grow well in semi-shade, they do not grow well in full shade. They grow well in a wide variety of soil conditions although chalky and/or waterlogged soil will be a problem if not improved before planting. If the ground is clay, lots of compost dug into the planting area will greatly increase their chances of surviving winters. Once your Lupins start to flower create new plants if you want more of a certain colour, gently separate the little offset at the base of a mature plant and replant it.

    Dating back to 1885, this heirloom wins most flavour contests. Brandywine, which dates back to 1885, is the heirloom tomato standard. The large, beefsteak-shaped fruits grow on unusually upright, potato-leaved plants. The fruits set one or two per cluster and ripen late-and are worth the wait. Brandywine's qualities really shine when it develops an incredibly fine, sweet flavor. It a massive tomato and the vines are massive too. Tall sturdy stalks are necessary for these plants.

  • Native to eastern North America, Lanceleaf Coreopsis has naturalized across much of the Prairies and even into the Rocky Mountains. It is a hardy perennial plant (Zones 3-10) that is both drought tolerant and able to endure high temperature and humidity. It will work in well-drained containers and just about any garden soil, but it prefers well-drained, nutrient-poor, sandy loam. This variety can reach 90cm tall but may grow shorter depending on exposure in the garden. Its stems are stiff and upright, so it makes a nice cut flower.     Red Oxheart is an heirloom tomato that first appeared in the 1920s. It is prized for its attractive heart shape, sweet, rich flavour, and meaty texture. The large fruits have really substantial flesh and small seed cavities so they are perfect for sauces. They can weigh over a pound each, and each plant produces many fruits. The tomato flavour is pronounced and sweet, with a slight acidity for balance. Grow this indeterminate vine in full sun in rich soil, and keep the soil evenly moist throughout the season to produce the best fruits.
